Whenever I try to load a .avi file for a background in WMV, it.. crashes.

It gives me an Application Error:

The instruction at "0x5ed195ec" referenced memory at "0x7ff50007". The memory could not be "read"
Click on OK to terminate the program.

WMV was never designed to load (or consider loading) an AVI file as the background. This is why it crashes rather than gives an error.

You can use compositing techniques in your editing software, or a compositing software like After Effects to put your character into your AVI file.
REALITY.SYS corrupted.

It actually used to work for me.

Lately it hasn't been working, though.

Well, it might have been an unplanned result of one of the libraries being used, but it was still never an official feature. (though now I'm curious, having never heard of that working before)

A WoW music video creator by the name of ToonHeads5000 makes hers by loading an .avi file as a background and that's how she tells everyone she does it.
